No, but I do remember him being pissed during one contract negotiation because Opie wanted a short term deal thinking they could jump ship to ? for more money while SXM was offering a 5 year deal at the time.
I wonder what was up the Opester's sleeve (besides unwarranted confidence) here ... Wasn't this the same era that Adam Carolla made his "Pirate Ship" and started the podcast network?

O&A wouldn't have put in enough effort to make that work

He wasn't happy with the money, Anthony was. Anthony was more about the stability then the money fluctuations over time. Opie felt he wanted to lock in a 1 or 2 year deal so he could bargain up sooner. Neither Opie nor Anthony make any effort these days.

I wonder what would possibly make Opie believe the show was going to become more popular/relevant with each passing year.

This was during era when the younger crop of comics were starting podcasts and gaining steam and he thought the aging Opie and Anthony satellite radio show was going to be able to negotiate huge raises each year?

Howards contract just broke his brain, probably

Pretty sure he was pissed about the low offers, so he was going to show them who was boss and only sign 1 year at a time. He also went on rants afterwards about how he's out the door at 9:59 and how he was going to save his genius for his viral videos. That tactic cost him his office and he had to do show prep in a stairwell.

I don't think the offers were low, though. They just seemed modest compared to Howie's ridiculous contract.

For Ggregg's tactic to make sense, that would mean he believed their satellite shock jock comedy show was going to continue to build momentum and peak in popularity when the hosts were 60 years old, forcing Sirius to keep paying out more and more annually to keep them.

Is it possible he actually believed that??

Opie unironically said on air that they were as big as Howard Stern. He absolutely believed it.

I honestly wonder how Anthony would have reacted if he had waited and blew up on air rather than on twitter. I would not assume Nana would let cooler heads prevail and make it into a funny story. It would probably result in the same racial name calling and firing but maybe even take the show down because its on air. A boy can dream

I can paint the picture for you, Lad:

The show opens with a livid berber launching into a racist tirade no different than his Twitter breakdown, probably near verbatim (if not worse). He props himself up with Jimmy's assistance while Opie makes one attempt to throw a Red Card that this is a very bad Idea, then concedes into a sea of Candy Crush sounds.

The biggest question in this alternate reality is: is it just at the opener or does he go on all show? I say if it was only the opener, he might have skated. I think Opie would've done his best to steer the ship, because Anthony going full blown William Wallace on air for four hours on THEIR show, in my view, makes it their problem.

But if he went on all show? Chances are there might be a good mix of callers egging Ant on, making it worse, along with others combatting him for going scorched Earth, further escalating it. I'd picture a very uncomfortable HR meeting after that show, and I'm not sure all three would survive it.

But whadda I know? I'm just the worst Genesis singer ever.

Nice old TV show reference you crotchety fuck. What is that image of a bully even from? Little Rascals?
Do old people not get how antiquated their references are? They do this a lot, I've seen Jackie Gleason memes posted by some of these people. Nobody knows who that is in 2024.

The offers after the first years were much lower than their salaries and the offers went down again after the merger. I’m sure he was counting Howard’s money. Howard was still making 8 figures after his pay cut, ona were down to 6 figures.

Anthony really provided SXM with the best reasoning possible to fire him. No investigation necessary. He smashed all his own arguments. Couldn’t say it wasn’t about race because…it was, and he called her a nigger savage animal thug. Couldn’t say he didn’t do anything wrong because he literally posted the photos he took and its obvious what happened in them (not taking scaffolding pictures).

If he'd kept it for the show, he wouldn't have lost his job.

100%. We all know Anthony was not taking photos that night. He was not walking around Times Square at 2am with an expensive professional camera to snap pics. He was there for whatever reason (presumably to pick up a hooker), saw a black woman, and took a creepshot from his phone. His excuse would be something like “Well the camera on the phone gives the photo a gritty and grainy look!”
This is what Anthony was up to that night.

Shaniqua took it personally

He's basing it on nothing, since he doesn't know shit.
I can buy O&A making six figures at that time, even if he has no evidence for it. If their biggest contracts assumably broke at least a million, then what would their contracts be worth at the end of their careers? 80k a year or some shit? They liked broadcasting but were too greedy to take something like that.
