If the judge rules qualified immunity doesn't apply, then the lawsuits against the individual cops can go forward. But it's really hard to get around it. There are cases where the police do outrageous shit like steal money or plant evidence and they were still covered by qualified immunity. The cop in this article shot a kid while trying to shoot the family dog. The dog wasn't even a threat. The lawsuit was dismissed because the cop was covered by qualified immunity. The MPD pointing shields at Rick and his frumpy wife isn't in the same universe as shit like that.

That's completely untrue. If that were the case then every single one of the SWATing calls would have meant guns drawn and multiple cops. Most of the time the merely did wellness checks or talked to Pat through his intercom.
