Opie & Anthony didn't hire Po. That's not how any of this works. XM knew O&A were "high profile" at the time. It was a pretty low-key building at XM (at the time). And they figured they would need additional security upstairs. Mars had already been the engineer at XM NYC, and when it was time to hire, Mars suggested Po to the office manager and they hired him. O&A had zero participation in the hire. Pretty sure the first time they met him was Oct 4, 2004.
Fun fact: The walls in between the airlock doors were layered with legit Kevlar. Security area also had bulletproof glass.

Master Po's Court Update

So everyone is informed of Master Po's days in court on his alleged harassment suit here is an update prepared by Samuel Browning, Esq.
Its time to share some information that I've been sitting on. At least until a trial was completed. You'll notice that Po Outer and Outerete have removed and erased their posts here. In late November, early December Clark and Carolyn Clifford were served with notice that Rivera/Po had filed a citizen complaint against then for harassment in the Nutley Municipal Court. The prosecutor of this court then decided to prosecute this case for Rivera. They were charged under N. J. S. A 2C:33-4(a) which reads:
A person commits a petty disorderly persons offense if, with purpose to harass another, he: (a) makes or causes to be made a communication or communications anonymously or at extremely inconvenient hours, or in offensively coarse language, or any other matter likely to cause annoyance or alarm. "
The Cliffords were also charged under section (c) which has slightly different language.
The case was tried on April 10, 2008 and the judge dismissed the charge against Mrs. Clifford and found Mr. Clifford not guilty on April 23, 2008.
Joseph J. Discenza Esq, the Clifford's highly skilled trial lawyer indicated to me that he had advised his clients not to post again on Bullshido because he did not want them to risk getting charged again in Nutley N. J. Municipal Court, advice I understand. So the Cliffords will not be back to take your questions. However I am going to describe what happened at the trial itself which I was subpeona'ed to attend and for which I testified on behalf of the defense. Given my opinion that the Clifford's posts did not criminal harassment I did not attempt to contest the out of state subpeona.
Poe provided the following details/claims about himself in his testimony and cross exam.
1) Started with Opie and Anthony on October 10, 2004
2) Had been studying FMA since 1981 and martial arts since he was five years old. He's 46 now.
3) Lives at 13 Baltimore Street in Nutley, presently trains three students in his back yard.
4) After he had "lost" his school in 2002 "it was taken from him" he recovered it in 2005 and the pipes were broken and the sheetrock was ripped apart.
5) So he had a producer in the summer of 2005 announce that he needed help and people came to his nutley studio to help renovate. (Poe said about 40 people showed up. )
6) Claimed that his ma school closed because of a CO issue in 2006 [Note, it was actually reposed]
7) Claimed that to earn his mastery he had to fight 300 full contact fights per year when he was studying with his prior master.
8) Carolyn Clark, (Po Outerate) was his office manager until October 2006. Poe also claimed she was his girlfriend for a while.
9) Poe was really bad with dates and had to use a cheat sheet, he actually thought that he was told he couldn't go back to the studio in December 2005, confusing this date with August 2006.
10) Po admitted that when one of his dogs mauled the other fatally, he owed money to the vet, so he sent the dog in with Carolyn to be treated, who was then billed for $1,400. It took her months to transfer the bill to Poe and have him admit responsibility. Poe admitted to still owing the Vet at least part of this sum.
11) Claimed he had lost students because of a post on Bullshido which Clark Clifford (Po Outer ) had made which quoted text from Po's myspace ad when it was hacked. While hacked the ad featured a discussion of how Po was accused of rape and holding a woman hostage and his supposed denial. Po claimed it was harassment for Clifford to reproduce this text on Bullshido. "I've lost students because of it" [Clark has denied hacking Po's account and indicated to me he only reprinted what was on another board, called "Full Blown Aids" which concerns the O A show.
12) Po said that he had not read bullshido until November 2007 when he found a link to the thread on another A O oriented board.
13) Poe said he had trained from 1983 through 1998 with AP Marinas Sr.
14) Opie and Anthony hired him (Po) specifically because he was a martial arts master and "They hired me for my martial arts background" because they had been previously "threatened by guns and gangs", "Po asked "what happens if I am confronted by someone with Bullshido" when I am out escorting them around. [He was serious]
15) The Bullshido people "who want to challenge me wherever I go".
16) Poe said that it would cost $50,000 to solve his internet problems (I think he meant pay for a civil lawsuit) he complained when people plugged in his name it turned up the bullshido thread with the sexual allegations.
17) Poe said he had trained American Special Forces Soldiers for one day in offensive edged weapons work in Maryland in 1994.
18) Poe said under cross that he had broken with his master in 1998 when an individual named Ace who knew TKD studied FMA with him and then obtained Po's permission to open his own school but he then betrayed Poe by stealing students from him, and Marinas his master taught a seminar at Ace's for money and then Poe found out, confronted him about betraying him and he and Poe had a falling out.
19) Poe received his masters certificate in single stick (Yantak(sic) on November 21 or 22 of 1992 and his whip mastery in 1994. I believe he indicated that he had five mastery certificates from Marinas, though he had brought two along with him as exhibits and couldn't locate his side handled baton certificate. Carolyn Clark mentioned to me that day she had never seen these certificates in his studio.
I arrived at the Nutley municipal court at 10 am. We then underwent a delay before Poe stated his direct exam at 10:30. The first part of Poe's exam was concerning how he knew Poe Outer and Poe Outerate were actually Clark and Carolyn Clifford. This was necessary for Poe to establish that even the right people had been charged with harassment.
During the first part of Poe's testimony he was simply horrible at remembering dates, when he re-opened his school, when he closed it, ect, and got permission from the judge to refer to a cheat sheet with these dates written down to refresh his recollection. Poe then testified that He had dated Carolyn Clifford for three months in 2006 and this was why the present vendetta existed.
Then the defense attorney challenged the prosecutor concerning the issue of whether certain posts and e-mails were written by the defendents so they cut a deal. Poe had brought in what appeared to be every nasty e-mail written about him during the last two years anonmously and wanted to use word association to "prove" that the Cliffords had written all of this correspondence. To put it kindly I don't believe that Rivera/Po had the law enforcement background necessary to provide such expert testimony so the prosecutor and defense attorney agreed that rather then spend a month in court fighting over the admissibility of each e-mail they would stipulate that Clark and Carolyn were Po Outer and Po Outerette, discuss only the Bullshido posts, and save everyone some serious court time.
The defense stipulated to these identities and the prosecutor agreed, though Poe kept trying to revisit this issue. The judge listened sympathetically but didn't allow any of these anonymous e-mails into evidence.
Poe monologued during his testimony about how he had been harassed by attacks questioning his mastership, and he had the certificates to prove his mastery. (Poe had earned mastery certificates by weapon. ) He had two with him, another two at home and kept saying he had a certificate of mastery for the tonfa he couldn't locate.
Poe said some other things about his mastership and it is my personal opinion that while Poe was claiming that the allegations of committing a sexual crime was the most important part of his harassment claim he was really motivated by anyone questioning his "mastership".
THEN POE WAS CROSS EXAMINED. DEFENSE COUNSEL DID A VERY GOOD JOB OF GETTING HIM TO ADMIT THAT BECAUSE THE DOG INCIDENT HAD ACTUALLY HAPPENED, AND THAT HE DID INDEED HAVE AFFAITS WITH MARRIED WOMEN AND THAT WHAT WAS SAID ABOUT HIM IN HER POSTS WAS PROBABLY ACCURATE. JOE WENT THROUGH SOME OF THE OTHER POSTS ATTEMPTING TO LESSEN THE IMPACT OF VARIOUS STATEMENTS BY POINTING OUT THAT POE HAD ADMITTED TO BEHAVIOR WHOSE MENTIONING HE HAD CONSIDERED HARASSMENT. Joe also got Poe to admit there was no universal standard in the martial arts for Mastership.
Then I was called to testify by the defense for the final half an hour of the trial. Did I consider what Clark and Carolyn did as harassment. No. Did poe report the thread early in December 2007, yes but his demand that we take down the entire thread, the unspecific allegation of criminal conduct, and his demand that we contact the nutley police department rather then this Police Department contacting us, made his complaint lack credibility.
Then it was time for cross and the prosecutor asked me all kinds of questions, and generally did his job well.
When I got off the stand, Poe was sitting about 15 feet away from me, so I went up to him and said softly in a friendly voice. "You're welcome to come onto Bullshido and post and tell your side of the story. " Poe stood up immediately and yelled "That's not the point" so the prosecutor told me to leave and blocked Poe from me. I and the others then were escorted out of the opposite side of the courtroom.
On April 23, 2008 the Cliffords returned to court and Poe and his girlfriend were also there. From what I heard from the Clifford's defense counsel, the judge strongly suggested that they not return to post on Bullshido to keep out of future trouble and then he dismissed the charges against Carolyn and found Clark not guilty. Then the Cliffords and their attorney had to once again be ushered out the other side of the court room because Po was upset and venting to the prosecutor about something or another.
SO ALL IN ALL WHO TOLD THE TRUTH AND WHO IS A LYING, CHEAT WHO ADMITTED TO HAVING AFFAIRS WITH MARRIED WOMEN. MORE THAN JUST ONE MARRIED WOMAN. THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW.
HE DOESN'T PAY HIS BILLS, HE HAD HIS CAR REPOSSESSED FOR ALMOST 2 MONTHS, HE LOST HIS SCHOOL DUE TO A FORECLOSURE, HE TAKES PEOPLE'S MONEY AND DOES NOT REIMBURSE THEM.
FACE IT PEOPLE. MASTER PO LIED, LIED, LIED.
NOW HE IS GOING TO ALLOW HIS NEW GIRLFRIEND TO SUFFER THE SAME HUMILIATION AS THE OTHER WOMEN HE HAS GOTTEN INTO HIS SCREWED UP LIFE.

There M.O. is to draw you into their trap of infections as I know first hand. If you find this to be far from the truth and it is something that can't happen in todays world, you are mistaken. I have kept quite for many months hoping that the attitude of Mr. Travis will eventually change in a more favorable direction. I need to clear the air so we can move forward and concentrate on what is more important. The recent incident on Friday September 30 th brought a dark cloud to the safety of Mr. Greg Hughes (Opie). While he was mentioning the incident over the air to all of our listeners, of this threatening situation, I was in the middle of a verbal tennis match, which took me away from a security issue that I should have heard immediately.
This is not the first time. Today when I requested a simple printout to Danny or Travis, Danny advised me that he had to start working on the phones for the O & A show. This was evident knowing the show was about to start in a few seconds. However when my request was made clear to Travis that I needed to have these documents printed for the guests that will arrive today, knowing that our printer is out of ink and the only printer available is the one in the O & A studio, he hesitated and grunted as always.
Yet again, I requested these documents to be printed at a suitable time instead of demanding a document that can possibly lead to a future legal battle. I am in a position that if I hesitate, a life or lives can be in jeopardy. Security will no longer fall to the way side or delayed from this point on. I have been exasperated by the numerous delays of a simple request that has been distasteful and extremely unprofessional.
This attitude sometimes has permeated into other's in which it has reflected on their professionalism and performance towards other staff members.
To date; I still have not received a request I made a week ago that can jeopardize the security within our XM studios. In order for me to do my job I had requested from Travis in front of O & A and XM Staff the general information of all interns that have worked for XM since day one. I don't think I was asking for something difficult. Once again, the response was not favorable.

I put "Master Po" in my email search and found all these gems. I just found the thread about his show.
I was notified in the afternoon Po would be having 20 to 30 upstairs. I expressed my displeasure. Don expressed he wanted paperwork for everyone. None was done. Steve simply said "Record it."
Throwing Po a show was a favor, as I'd have never booked that on my own. I really wasn't concerned with what guests he decided to have but once I found out he was basically throwing a party at XM, off-hours during a timeslot I was responsible for left me pretty raw. You don't do that. You don't take advantage like that.
XM didn't require a "guest list" like later Sirius would. Sirius, you couldn't get upstairs without being in the system. XM, you just signed in and came upstairs. A guest list for Po's show was not provided to me. I'd usually show up for a SNV show around 8pm, and the show would consist of hosts and maybe a guest or three. Not a huge deal. This was Po, half a dozen guests and about 30 fans, all there before I arrived. With Po being "on the air" there was NOBODY no manage/oversee the crowd. Anybody could be doing anything at anytime and Po was fine with this. He was more concerned with me "embarrassing" him in front of his adoring fans.
Not a great answer. Sorry. I didn't know they were ex-cons as I never received a guest list from Po.

I spoke to Ben concerning a racial incident that I was involved in almost ten years ago. I did not want to interrupt the show so I am emailing this to you. If they get back on the racial bit your welcomed to use this.
This is my story:
I do not remember the exact date when I had the most horrific experience of my life, but I do know it was around 1986 around the time Howard Beach and its racial tension was all over the news. To this day, I try not to think about it but when I do, I keep asking myself if there was something, I should have done differently to prevent the incident.
Whenever the story does happen to come up people never fail to look at me skeptically. They doubt that anyone could have gone through what happened and lived to tell about it. I have learned not to care what people think. I know what happened that evening and so does the assailants, police who eventually showed up and the 7-11 staff who worked there that night.
It was winter and must have been about 2 or 3 a.m. My friend, his wife, and I were driving home from a party after dropping off my girlfriend at the time. The night was so cold I needed to stop somewhere in Holtsville, NY which was still a good distance from my house because my old car had no heat. I was hoping to buy some hot chocolate for us to help us stay warm and keep me awake. I also remember craving a blueberry muffin.
As I pulled into the parking lot of a 7-11 I noticed a group of guys standing there drinking on the right hand side of the store. I did not pay too much attention to them thinking my time there would be very short. Upon exiting the 7-11, I approached my car and while I opened my door, I happened to notice the guys still hanging out. I got into my car, turned the key in the ignition and nothing happened. I tried it again hoping that the engine would turn over and still the car made no sound. I realized my battery was dead and I needed a jump-start.
I asked my friend if he could find someone with cables and a car, which he did. Everything seemed fine with the two guys who agreed to help us until my friend crossed the cables hooking up negative to positive and positive to negative. Sparks flew and the battery from the other car made a loud noise. At that point, a night of partying turned into the worst night of our lives.
The two guys did not appreciate the damage to their car so they responded with verbal attacks which brought unwanted attention to us. My friend was not helpful in his reaction responding aggressively which accelerated the situation. He was not aware of the group of guys I had spotted earlier and before I was able to tell him it was too late. They had noticed a problem and came toward us. There were about a dozen of them and they were obviously coming for my friends and me.
My friend and I were standing on the driver's side of the car, his girlfriend still inside. I pleaded with her to lock the doors and stay in the car no matter what. I turned toward the group and attempted to break the tension by cracking a few jokes and mentioning that all I wanted to do was to get some hot chocolate and a blueberry muffin. I offered to pay for the battery and I told them we can all laugh about this down the block at a local bar and all the drinks were on me. It did not seem to help. They were looking for something else and they made it clear by being verbally offensive while I tried to convince them that there was no reason for confrontation. They responded with racial references calling my friend and me spics and being obviously aggressive.
As they came toward us, I noticed one of the guys leading them had a shirt from a local martial arts studio. I thought I could at least appeal to his better judgment and associate myself with his martial arts background. I mentioned something about the code of being a martial artist and that I knew of his instructor and the form of martial arts he taught. I was trying to relate to him on a level with which I thought he could connect but he had already made up his mind. He immediately took it as an insult and said that I should not talk about his instructor. He then proceeded to make the most threatening comments I have ever heard in my life while he pulled out a switchblade and told me what he planned to do with it. His plans were unimaginable and demented.
At this point, I knew that it was a life or death situation. If I did not react quickly, we would not walk away. I reached into my car on the side of my seat knowing I had my sticks with me from a martial arts class I had attended earlier that day. Meanwhile, I still attempted to try to reason with them. As soon as they saw my stick, more of them stopped hiding their weapons, which included another knife, a pipe and what looked to be brass knuckles. One of them had a broken bottle.
The banter from them continued all the while. I cannot remember it all, but I know I heard things like, "Spic, I'm going to slice you", or "We're going to cut you real good, Spic." The young lady that was supposed to stay in the car panicked and ran out of the drivers side of the car where we were standing. I saw five or six guys starting to chase her and I had all kinds of thoughts about what they would do to her. I pushed my way through a few of the guys and when I got to her I pushed through the guys around her and rushed her towards the store trying to get her to safety. I got her there but they had followed closely behind.
I did not realize until it was too late that I had compromised a safer position for myself because I no longer had my friend or my car behind me. I was completely exposed and surrounded by these guys, some of them carrying their weapons.
My friend was now dealing with two of the attackers without weapons and I had the worst of the group. They attacked and as I responded, I was conscious that my defense was much less vicious then what they were trying to give me. I was trying to defend myself by hitting their thighs and biceps instead of more lethal areas. For an incident that may have taken thirty seconds it felt like a lifetime. I was seeing it in slow motion and nothing I did seemed effective.
My friend connected with me and we were forced to back up towards the 7-11 door. I told my friend to open it. He said he could not open the door because the people on the inside who worked for the 7-11 were holding the door closed. I did not know if they had locked it or were just holding it closed. I am not sure because I was too busy fending off the attacks aimed at my face, stomach, and groin while my friend tried to get the people inside to open the door.
My arms were getting tired and were burning from swinging the stick for so long. My stick was moving constantly in a 180-degree pattern and I was able to swing it quickly enough so they could not see it. Fear kept them away because each time someone got close they got hit. I knew I could not keep up the pace and that I would eventually drop the stick from exhaustion and I panicked. Adrenaline took over and I started swinging my stick towards the glass trying to break it. I jumped back into it kicking the glass. I banged my head and elbows into the glass while I kept swinging the stick trying to get to safety.
Finally, the people inside opened the door and we ran in. I stood by the door waiting for them to come in but they could not. They knew they would not be able to all come through the door at the same time and I would have the advantage. My forearms were swollen from the effort and my head and elbows throbbing, but they saw they would get a crack across the hand, to the knee, or head if they tried to come through the door. At that point, my compassion was no longer. We were cornered and I was about to be forced to take it to another level, this was not good.
When they realized they could not get to my friends or me, they broke my windshield and started hitting my car. The police finally arrived and chased everyone away. After hearing the story, the officers approached me and asked me where my gun was. They could not believe that I was able to fend off the attack with only a stick. They took me and placed me in the back of the squad car. They intended to arrest me for something. I was still considerably shaken and pumped up and probably gave them the wrong impression. After interviewing, everyone in the store and others who were witnesses the police officers finally released me.
For a many years after it happened I started having nightmares and there were nights of suddenly waking up drenched in sweat.
Today, as I write this story my heart starts palpitating and my gut starts to heart. To this day, I never found out who they were.

He said he could not open the door because the people on the inside who worked for the 7-11 were holding the door closed. I did not know if they had locked it or were just holding it closed. I am not sure because I was too busy fending off the attacks aimed at my face, stomach, and groin while my friend tried to get the people inside to open the door.
My arms were getting tired and were burning from swinging the stick for so long. My stick was moving constantly in a 180-degree pattern and I was able to swing it quickly enough so they could not see it. Fear kept them away because each time someone got close they got hit. I knew I could not keep up the pace and that I would eventually drop the stick from exhaustion and I panicked. Adrenaline took over and I started swinging my stick towards the glass trying to break it. I jumped back into it kicking the glass. I banged my head and elbows into the glass while I kept swinging the stick trying to get to safety.
Finally, the people inside opened the door and we ran in. I stood by the door waiting for them to come in but they could not. They knew they would not be able to all come through the door at the same time and I would have the advantage. My forearms were swollen from the effort and my head and elbows throbbing, but they saw they would get a crack across the hand, to the knee, or head if they tried to come through the door. At that point, my compassion was no longer. We were cornered and I was about to be forced to take it to another level, this was not good.
When they realized they could not get to my friends or me, they broke my windshield and started hitting my car. The police finally arrived and chased everyone away. After hearing the story, the officers approached me and asked me where my gun was. They could not believe that I was able to fend off the attack with only a stick. They took me and placed me in the back of the squad car. They intended to arrest me for something. I was still considerably shaken and pumped up and probably gave them the wrong impression. After interviewing, everyone in the store and others who were witnesses the police officers finally released me.
For a many years after it happened I started having nightmares and there were nights of suddenly waking up drenched in sweat.
Today, as I write this story my heart starts palpitating and my gut starts to heart. To this day, I never found out who they were.
