His advertisers really dropped off a cliff when he went to Sirius, he went from being able to have big contests where people won a good amount of money / vacations / etc to top prize being 500 bucks thanks to stuff like “cougar” dating websites.

That 10 million claim doesn’t seem accurate at all, especially since you have to pay extra just to hear him. Howard 101 at least was at one time good for the die hard fans since it played “classic” stern replays but now it only plays the recent tame stuff to avoid any “offensive” content that Stern was famous for since the 80s.

I always liked that story of Gary telling Gilbert Gottfried they don’t have comics on anymore and they had Chelsea Handler on that day.

I can see that, he will spend the rest of his life telling anyone that will listen he was the one that built Sirius and they’re nothing without him when yes he got them attention in the mid 2000s for going to a pay service but that was a long time ago. I bet they even listened to him at first about how podcasts would never take off and never make any money and now they dominate while satellite radio is starting to seem ancient compared to other listening options for younger people.

It makes me happy that he’s got so much money yet it will never make him happy.
