It's extraordinarily common--customary in fact--to have a wedding at a place of worship and reception in a separate venue. It is undoubtedly rude to leave during dessert, especially causing a mass exodus of people with you, instead of waiting 15 mins until everyone gets on dance floor and your departure is less disruptive and vibe killing .
