I wonder if this is money Niki got from that weird "coaching" MLM she's in where everyone interviews each other at online "seminars". They're both rubes (which is why it took Pat 30 minutes to figure out that the person saying his power was going to be shut off on the phone was a scammer).

I get the impression they get a tiny profit and immediately spend it. Or he thinks the lawsuit still has a chance, even though he wouldn't see any money for years if he actually won.

Saw them in Virginia in 2016/2017. First show in the States after some time off. Ghost was the opener and this was right before they blew up. Maiden were great, a lot of energy but Dickinson blew his wad at the start of the show and by the time we got to the hits at the end his voice was shot. It doesn't get better almost ten years later. It's like watching Rob Halford trying to sing Painkiller nowadays. It looks and sounds painful.
They've been getting worse over the years. Not the performance quality, per se, but a. the sound has been steadily getting more and more atrocious. I saw 'em around the same time, I think, or maybe the tour before, with Alice Cooper opening. He sounded pristine. Maiden comes on... and I'm lucky that I grew up on them, else I'd have no fucking clue what they were playing.

I've seen some great shows (Orpheum fucking Theater in Boston in 99 or so, when Bruce came back) , and they played and sounded amazing. Saw 'em a year ago at Power Trip, and clearly someone else managed the sound as it was night and day better than the last decade, but a. they were kinda corny (Janick, no one wants to see you duel the Eddie puppet with your guitar), and b. Bruce's voice kept going. But it was the desert.

Funnily enough, Priest played, as well. And I was sorely, sorely let down.

Poor Janick. He has been clowned on for almost 20 years now if not over that. Apparently he is the superior player amongst the three guitar players and a decent writer, but holy shit he is distractingly corny live. Bruce is spent, but no one is as washed as his hero Ian Gillian. Dude went from one of the most influential singers in rock/metal to sounding like Micky Mouse by the 90s.

None of them are playing live except maybe Tommy Lee. No clue why they even bother giving him a live mic. Just have him sweat and waddle around to a backing track like Chris Jericho does with Fozzy.
Aerosmith had to give up their Vegas residency recently too, Steven Tyler can't put any more child spit in his voice box
I did drivers Ed with his son. Both of them suck shit.

No - none of them except total-overkill John 5. There is a video from earlier this year of them playing a small club show in NYC, and it was... a thing. At least Nikki might have been playing, as there have been videos floating about YT of his bass continuing to play as he is clapping his hands over his head.

Whatever that second video is, I don't wanna watch it. In Rock and Machine Head are fundamental. Gillan/Glover Purple was the best.

edit: Pat is fat, and Pat-posting is getting boring (fingers crossed for an October surprise...).

Ironically, singers past their prime losing their higher vocal register is something that gets discussed a lot on the Jim and Sam show. Which, if you guys would JUST GIVE IT A CHANCE FOR ONCE, you just might LIKE.

But I forgot everyone here is too good to listen to podcasts and J&S because you're so much better than everyone else...

I don't think there is a single legitimate recording live or in studio of Nikki Sixx playing bass. I have no idea how John 5 became a thing, and it's annoying. He got to bang Aria Giovanni in her prime, has consistent work while maintaining his lame ass Marilyn Manson aesthetic and name. I'm sure he is very talented and easy to deal with, but enough with the guy.

The second video is actually great. Ian Gillian sounds just fine until he hits those high notes and it's so bad. The first three minutes Blackmore refuses to get on stage and half way through his guitar solo he spys a cameraman on stage and wings a water bottle at him and getting Gillian with splash damage. It's amazing. The whole concert is just a neat showcase of how great the band is and how much Blackmore hates everyone and everything. It was also his last show with them ever. The Mach II lineup has one of the best rhythm sections of all time in any genre of music with Roger Glover and Ian Paice. Jon Lord is also a total killer. Deep Purple with that specific lineup were one of the tightest and most technical bands of their era and shit all over Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath and that is coming from a big Black Sabbath fan.
