How much money were Opie & Anthony making throughout their run?

I'm doing this off the top of my head, so I may have some dates wrong:
Basically in the mid 90s, the radio market was deregulated. This allowed corporations to buy up hundreds of radio stations. Once they'd done that, they were swimming in money, because they had tons and tons and tons of redundancies. Imaging purchasing a hundred radio stations, firing 98% of the staff, and then replacing it with syndicated content.
Since they'd gone from paying the salaries of thousands of employees to hundreds, all of the profits got concentrated in an arms races to hire the hosts with the biggest numbaz.

From 2000 to 2005, you had nobodies like Mancow and Don and Mike making seven figures. Danny Ross has questioned whether Cumia was making seven figures. But it's farely easy to "suss out" what radio personalities were making during that era, because some of them got divorced and that information was made public in the divorce. For instance, Danny Bonaduce was second mic on the Adam Carolla show, and was making $500K a year: https://people.com/celebrity/danny-bonaduce-to-pay-16000-monthly-in-divorce-agreement/

Bonaduce made an additional $280K a year from his other job. (Both were part time, obviously.)

Bonaduce was never even remotely as popular as Opie and Anthony, so do the math.
And before someone says "maybe Bonaduce is just a really good negotiator", keep in mind that Opie and Anthony, Adam Carolla, Jim Norton, Jimmy Kimmel and Danny Bonaduce all had the same agent, James "Baby Doll" Dixon: https://adamcarolla.com/jon-stewart-james-babydoll-dixon-and-joshua-bell/

(That's part of the reason that the quality of Cumia and Carolla's guests shit the bed, Dixon eventually dropped both of them.)

Dixon on the right

If anyone remembers Opie's fake story about Adam Carolla dissing him in person, the entire reason he was allowed into the studio was because they had the same agent.

Naturally, the gravy train wouldn't last forever. But if you were on the radio from 2000 until 2005, and especially if you were syndicated nationwide, you were making money hand over fist.

It's a little bit ironic that Opie and Anthony contributed to their own demise by helping guys like Joe Rogan and Marc Maron make a name for themselves. If it wasn't for O&A, I doubt Maron would have ever had a top ten podcast.

Rogan already had a career when he started showing up on O&A, but his pivot to doing comedy full time was hardly setting the world on fire. I saw Maron play a show in Hollywood in 2006 and there were about 25 people in the room, with a capacity of about 200.

That makes sense.

I think Vince McMahon did something similar with wrestling.

No. We would always be asked if we wanted interns. The answer was always yes as there always needed to be people to make runs for coffee and food.

Stern had interns on the air all the time. Ron & Fez as well.

They had to hire us, we we were all about to quit simultaneously. The only hires after that were Sam and Sal. Oh wait, Butcha got hired too, but hated working for the show so he somehow transferred out to another SXM channel.

Stop making stuff up.
Why was Sal hired? 🤡🤤😳 Any random homeless guy could have brought far more entertainment to the show 😕 Sal was cringe and made me want to punch walls, child

Hot pools are gross. What a fucking nigger he is.

Also wasn’t his property almost too small for the pool? He had a pretty large one for Nassau County, and it was in Roslyn which is expensive in every way imaginable. What a nigger rich retard
He had Collums plus a karaoke studio 🎙️🎶 🚬😎 true class

It’s still an internship for college credits and you’re supposed to be doing something close to your major. Check your tone, Dovid. You’re getting lippy. In your estimation how much money did he piss away at the Borgata? I’d imagine that Artie lost millions sports gambling.
Drugs are expensive frankly surprised Artie still had that home for so long https://nypost.com/2023/04/13/artie-lange-in-contract-to-sell-longtime-new-jersey-home/ plus imagine all the lowlifes around Artie milking his breasts for money 🤑💰

The idea that Opie was good with money and frugal is laughable. The guy is up to his eyes balls in expenses with presumably very little income besides riding investments and equity in his house and apartment. The building maintence fee on that condo is more than a lot of people make in a year and he’s been without a dollar of income for almost seven years.
He was still with Sirius for years after stupid anthony got himself canned. Made additional millions that stupid anthony will never see.

He was fired six years ago. He’s had zero income for six years. With a trophy wife, two kids, a condo in Trump Tower, a Hampton’s house, a house in Philly and a failed restaurant, he has certainly taken a hit financially in that time.

why are you so irrationally insistent that opie isn't able to financially support himself, despite the fact that people keep raising points to the contrary

Dice isn’t retarded at all, just very eccentric. There’s a reason why he’s been getting consistent work for decades. Which can’t be said about anyone else in the o&a universe really.

At the trough of Dice's career, I saw him play the tiniest club I've ever seen in my life. It was a comedy club inside of a Vegas casino. It was literally the size of a public bathroom, about 250'

Due to the small size, there was no bar. A waitress from the casino floor came in to take people's drink orders.

That dude just absolutely refuses to stop grinding, he's definitely got a work ethic.

Even at 65, he's still doing multiple shows a week.

Opie cannot support that penthouse condo and beachfront house forever without more income. And private school and college for his kids? Vacations? Car payments? He would need some rather strong investments to be able to have them pay off his properties every year. And Opie's knowledge of investments began and ended with Citadel stock.

First off tons of people got work consistently in the O&A universe including O&A themselves. They had so many side projects from pilots of shows, XFL, talk show appearances, having to shoot commercials. And guys like Burr, Rogan, and Patrice were always doing something. Even DeRosa got to be in Better Call Saul because he was an O&A regular. Louis CK was always working some other shows on HBO or FX, in addition to his comedy gigs. Vos was doing television pilots, documentaries. And they all got booked for roasts at big venues or for televised events. Colin was always coming into the show to promote stuff that was not just standup.

But Dice was not 'Dice' in a a business meeting. He would immediately become Andrew Silverstein and talk in a completely different voice. It was like the werewolf or Hulk transformed into the normal person. Another comic who did that was Gilbert Gotfried. He never used his wild crazy over the top voice in meetings at all. He was completely somber and sounded like he was pumped full of horse tranquilizers.

Guys who would still act like maniacs in business meetings? Patrice and Nick Dip had reputations for burning bridges during meetings if a single thing went wrong. And both were accused by other comedians for deliberately destroying business proposals because the networks wanted to censor them.

Dice is still doing pretty mainstream shit though. Most of those people you mentioned haven’t done anything big in years besides rogan and burr. My point was more that it’s impressive Dice has done so much for so long considering he has a reputation as a weird retard.

"Opie has had zero income for 6 years." And Anthony has had zero income for 9 years. While paying out the ass for a failed venture. Try to keep up, fatso.
