I'll be honest, I get confused as to when I or me is proper, but I'm not an author.
Check by using the singular.

"They interrogated my wife and I, but only in my mind."

"My wife and me faked swaTTings as a pretense to sue the MPD."

"My wife and I think Brian Keene is an amazing author with an enviable career and a respectably sized pecker."

"Patrick S Tomlinson once walked past my wife and me on the street and the rancid stench of unwashed hog and failure was unbearable."

Use I at the beginning of a sentence and me at the end
Subjective vs objective case. A simple way to check is to drop the "and" part and see if it sounds wrong.

"The NYPD called I."
Wrong.

What's really funny is that most people make the opposite mistake. They use objective case in the subject when there's an "and". Pretentious Pat is fucking up in a unique way that makes him look pompous and stupid. If he was fucking up in the normal way, he would just look normal.

Remind the rest of us, please.
Years ago (before we met him), Pat said his apartment was broken into and one of the stolen items was his joke book. He opined that the thief probably took it because he wanted to silence Pat. I'll post the screenshot if I can find it.

Found it:
