I still believe he "buried the hatchet" with Howard knowing he could get him good, as Howard wasn't hiding his Hollywood intentions.

I don't think he'd realize he would get invited to his wedding, but he seized his opportunity. And the fact that EVERYONE told Howard that Chevy completely insulted him, and Howard replied that he "loved it", was Howie trying to deflect that Chevy finally got him and he was fooled.
I remember Robin talking about how she was at the table as Trump and during Chevy’s wedding “speech” about how him and Howard liked to blow men together Trump kept yelling stuff like “oh this guy stinks, get him off! Just awful, very disrespectful! Not funny!”

Somehow I missed this story and I listened to a lot of Howard. Essentially Chevy was given a speaking role at Howard's wedding and called Howie gay?

Yeah he talked about it after the wedding, I can’t remember if they had audio but the majority of speech was about how he fucks Howard in the ass and other gay stuff him and Howard like to do which “shocked” everyone and I think Sal (who wasn’t allowed to go) made sure to mention he wasn’t allowed to go because Stern thought he would do something like this but Chevy does it and it’s OK.

Right but you only got that opinion based on the many thin-skinned faggots who complained about him. Seems to me he's always been a real ass dude if he rustles their jimmies that much.
The main thing I go on these days is a story Rob Huebel told that he was at a benefit or something and he approached Chevy to introduce himself and Chevy turned and slapped him across the fact hard as fuck. I guess from Chevy’s perspective he thought that was a joke but that’s objectively prick behavior and he deserved to get his ass beat for that.

Of course they ended up working together on Caddyshack and Chevy's said nothing but nice things about Murray after.
I also heard they cowrote the scene where Chevy plays golf through Bill’s shack/home so they were at least able to work together.

Chevy is one of the best comedic leading men in Hollywood history. I don’t really care if he was a dick to his coworkers.

And that scene wasn’t even in the script, they realized during filming the two of them didn’t have any scenes together and came up with it on the set.

Yeah. That’s how I heard it too. Makes sense. You can’t have those two in the film and not interact.
From what I’ve heard it’s a miracle they got anything shot that movie, Rodney didn’t even understand what “action / cut” meant, when they were ready for his scenes Ramis had to say “ok Rodney, do your bit” and they did a lot of partying in Florida. Weird how Ted Knight didn’t do more movies after it, he was so good in there but went back to TV.

Ted had the cancer that would kill him already and kept it secret from most people on the set. He was very low energy at the time and barely able to get through the shooting.

Gotta say that was some great casting - he was perfect in the role and I don’t think he did many movies in his whole career.

He's a comedic genius. I don't think people realize just how influential he has been. He has a great part in the National Lampoon documentary where he gets emotional about Doug Kenney, is in complete denial about his suicide and talks about how he misses him every day.

Yeah I didn’t expect emotional Chevy. I guess with Doug thats the only time you get it

Chevy was funny, and I see why he was the breakout star of SNL and why he left to do his own thing. He sounds like an insufferable asshole but most comedians are insufferable assholes, and for him to be as charismatic as he is onscreen if he’s really that awful offscreen really shows he is a talented actor.

Seems like Chevy hates being part of an ensemble, and is only happt to be the star, like in Fletch or Vacation. He never got along on Community. Caddyshack isn't really the exception because him, Murray, and Dangerfield were all doing their own thing.
