I earn a fair amount and get raped on taxes every year. Knowing that I'm covered if I have a health issue beats fuck out of the idea that I'll wake up in the E.R. to a 100k bill. The only people i really get annoyed about for abusing it are the fat ones who abuse their bodies knowing they're a greater burden on the health service, like men with large breasts for example.

It's funny you say that because (whilst we're throwing around dubious yet technically accurate statistics) the US is one of 43 nations that doesn't provide some form of universal healthcare for 90%+ citizens and the only developed nation not to.

I’ve literally worked in both systems and I pay less for insurance and get 1000x better care in return.
In the US the insurance is cheaper than the tax in the UK (admittedly I try to live a healthy life but isn’t that the point) and my doctor knows my name and I never have to wait for anything. It’s cheaper and infinitely better.
By the way, healthcare for profit drives innovation and the entire world benefits from it, why do you think they spend billions on R&D in the US? If anyone should make money it’s people solving disease. The rest of the world steals the innovation for cheap and then says they are better because it’s socialised, if they didn’t steal it, who would make it?
