I remember I smoked like a week after my mom died and nearly burst into tears when I realized how fucked up my life was at that moment. It wasn’t my first time either. I’d smoked for years at that point.

I think this is it. He says he was only high for 15 minutes. That makes no sense. Plus, imagine the scenario that leads to him smoking. Did someone nearby offer him a hit? No. He's fat and disgusting and has a horrible haircut. No stranger is allowing him to take a rip off off their joint or pen and letting him wrap his wet fish lips around it. They're also not going to take the time to tell him how to smoke it. He's a stranger and they're watching a show.

Did a friend offer him some? No. He doesn't have any friends. Did Pat and Niki go to a dispensary and buy some? No, that would be out of character and he if he had gone, he would have gotten high for more than 15 minutes. Pat's lying and fat.

Only Pat and other Boomers are are arguing against points like this that nobody is even making. Nobody has believed it's a 'Gateway Drug" since at least the 80s, and even then people who hoovering lines of a blow, since it's not like they were risk averse.

it's legal for Rec use in MN, IL, MI OH and MO and legal for med in the Dakotas and KY. The only states near him who haven't are IN and Iowa. Only a rube goes to a state like California (or Washington or Colorado) that have had a long history of people using it even when it wasn't legal and be surprised it's basically ubiquitous.
