Riveting. He says he had to stop having his laundry washed by others as it was too expensive. @BenDovid vindicated?

If you live on the west side in a 4 million dollar duplex, and doing your own laundry to "save money" you are in WAAAAAAY over your head and should be selling that place immediately and downsizing your lifestyle. When your monthly HOA fees are $3,000 and your doing your own laundry (and parking on the street) to save money, you've BEEN fucked for a while.

Gregg will be putting that west side condo on the market VERY soon. He basically has to at this point unless he really thinks he can afford that place another 20 years with no income.

You know Opie better than anyone of us on here so perhaps you can provide some insight: Do you know why Opie isn't doing a real podcast? I mean one with mics in a room, not this horrendous beach shit.

He hasn't had an stable income for almost a decade by now and I really don't know how is able to have two expensive houses and a family to take care for. There is no way that he made that much that he would be able to never work again in his life.

I know Anthony has a horrendous show and is a terrible person, put at least he has a normal show that provides income. Opie didn't do anything after his show got canned from Westwood One.

Perhaps you should reach out to Opie and tell him you'll produce a podcast for him. :colin_sm:

good investments and being frugal; the polar opposite of how anthony handled his money

As delusional as Opie is, I think he actually does realize that he isn't funny or entertaining at all, at least in the conventional sense. He needs plausible deniability where he can say his lame streams are just a "goof" or "for fun." His ego wouldn't be able to handle seeing an actual podcast ranked way, way, way lower than others.

If I had to take a guess, I'd say he doesn't know how. Not even to be a dick here, Opie isn't a very intelligent or technical guy. Before smartphones he would ask me to add ringers to his phone because he didn't know how. He would have Sam edit all of his YouTube videos back then because again, he didn't know how. Opie was using CD decks to play audio in 2013 instead of anything else, because he didn't know how.

Of course he made enough money he would never have to work again. The first syndication deal was back in 2000? 5mil a year for three years. There's 15mil right there and that's BEFORE XM. I saw how these guys were living at the beginning of XM. Opie was renting a "two steps down" apartment on the west side and Anthony was renting a house in Great Neck and driving a Mercury.

So even with all that WNEW syndication money, the both of them were still living like relatively normal people. Then with the XM deal, I don't think the money was the same, but still pretty fucking good. I would guess 3mil/yr each for that first XM deal and who the fuck knows for the second syndication deal, but once they lost CBS and XM merged with Sirius, that was the end of their major paydays for sure. These guys made PLENTY of money from 2000 through 2014. It's MORE than enough to live on forever, but Opie decided he HAD to live like Howard Stern and buy a penthouse on the west side, decided he HAD to hire a full time security guy / personal assistant. Anthony did the same with his McMansion and Keith.

At the end of the day, if these two dopes lived moderately for the last 20 years, they wouldn't be needing to do their own laundry and move to a mud puddle in the dirty south.

tl;dr: Sure, you can afford that BMW, but can you afford to KEEP it? They both bought BMWs and can't afford the maintenance.

The Opester's obession with Howard could be made into a children's fable about comparison being the enemy of joy. The dude was absolutely crushing it for almost two decades and still seemed annoyed that Howard had more.

I don't see a world where the drama of having a Manhattan penthouse as a constant money suck beats living in a mansion in a tony part of Long Island (unless you have wealth beyond even that of a 2000s era shock jock. Jamie Dimon probably makes sense to have one.)

If Opie (and Anthony) just bought modest homes instead of immediately going balls to the wall they'd be doing great right now. Just think of all the cash Opie wasted because "Howard Stern". He's been there for what, 15 years? HOA is prob $3K a month there?

$540,000, before your principal & interest because Howard Stern. Kenny was getting paid enough to make it worth it at the time, say at least $60K/Yr? 10 years? $600,000 because Howard has Ronnie the Limo Guy.

So just those TWO things cost this man 1.1 million dollars from 2006 to 2014

Do you think his wife played any part in that? By the way, do you have any stories about her? We always talk about Nana's women(girls) but never the Opester's.

Hard to have stories about somebody you never really spent time with. I wasn't hanging out with Opie on my off time so I wouldn't be chilling with her either. My best Lynsi story is the Mets game story which we told on the air. And no, I don't believe she did. She would have been happy in a place 1/4 of the price. 100% Opie. Look how he frames his shitty YouTube videos. He's a little head at the bottom of the frame, and the other 80% is the view outside and to the ground so you can see how high up he is and the river. Every OpieRadio stream is a low-key flex. He could have setup his laptop anywhere, but he chose that spot for a reason and never moves.
