I was genuinely surprised by "Wasting Light". It was a pretty consistent album.

All the others before would have something good or two on it, but when there was filler, fucking hell, was there ever.

Colour and The Shape was really good, though, and I genuinely mean this: listen to the Million Dollar Demos. That band is angry at each other and they're taking out their aggression with their lyrics and delivery. It was unpolished, clearly unfinished, but that anger was channeled into effort, and it had soul - One by One didn't have a bloody ounce of it.

They're not fucking Nickelback, lad. Grohl, instrumentally, is incredibly talented. No one in my band dismisses that at all - except Alicja, he couldn't match her on the violin, I'm sure.

They just write a lot of empty shit, and that makes them interchangeable with any band out there when they do.
