I bet ooga was just starting to experiment with AI writing. If this didnt happen now, while AI still struggles to sound human in writing then he wouldnt have needed to steal entire stories. Once AI catches up then he wont need white girls with a guilty conscience to steal from and he would have never got called out. GPT writes far better than Ooga. That's the most irritating aspect of the whole thing for me. So-called respectable scifi publications (Asimovs, Apex) published his 5th grade level stories and then he won a Hugo award for it. Jaw droppingly bad even by sfwa standards
