RATM is an interesting band, as their leftist, anti-establishment, fight the power messages were totally lost and/or ignored by a huge swath of their fan base. Meatheads like Joe enjoy the funky riffs, and cool squiggly guitar effects, and just mostly ignore the lyrics aside from a few choruses. And I've always wondered if that actually bothered them, or was their whole bit just a put-on.

If Joe had any balls, he'd just rewrite all the RATM lyrics and make them all pro-Trump tunes. He could get sued or something, but what are they gonna do, garnish his zero dollars a year salary? Joe, of all people, is going to take the stage and rock out to songs about corrupt cops and the plight of migrant refugees and etc. What a dimbulb.

RATM have the same genetic makeup of a boy band. They were not a band prior to their first album. They were put together by a major label and pushed by a major label. They are talented for sure and were unique as hell, but I always thought they were a crock of shit in terms of authenticity. They existed because their masters made them and allowed them.
