I guess I could just look it up but is it basically just an oxygen mask?
No, it’s like a vacuum cleaner running in reverse.

The problem is the patient’s airway is collapsing and cutting off their breathing.

The CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) is basically inflating their airway like a balloon. It’s an air-splint holding everything open.

Obviously this is pretty uncomfortable but once the patient gets used to it they usually can’t stand to sleep without it.

Grim. If your body's trying to kill you when it should be at its most relaxed, maybe take the hint.

So I was right when I said he's choking in his own fat throat? I'm basically a doctor.

For a large percent of the middle-aged population it’s weight-related.

There are people where it is just a problem with their anatomy and they can be very skinny, some people have issues with the muscle tone in that part of their throat, it can be nerve-related, etc.

There is a huge correlation between age and prevalence of sleep apnea too.

But if a fat person claims any of that, they’re just in denial.
