I have a serious question here, as someone who has long been fascinated with psychology (one of my best subjects in Secondary School, I'll have you know).
He strikes me as one of your typically over-praised American nonces that the Europeans laugh about. The kind where Mumsy told them everything they did was soooo good. And it wouldn't shock me if this continued into adulthood - not to mention a diet of filler-stuffed meats that obviously increased his estrogen level.
So, did his mother die? Is that why he's so in search of more praise? Is that why he craves adoration and likes on Twitter?
Is that why he wants to show us up? To turn you all from trolls to appreciators?
Are WE Mama Raven now?
Mama Raven's influence is noteworthy but mostly it's his crippling, severe narcissism. Think of it this way - anyone on the planet over the age of 5 can probably teach you about something. An academic topic, some historical figure, even a little kid can teach you about Paw Patrol. Severe narcissists abide by a simple code: I'm right about everything. Patrick has tweeted this mantra many many times yet refuses to accept his mental illness.
Again, goes back to school. You can make it through the early years, but when you get old enough to have to learn, study, take tests, get grades - that's when "I'm smarter than teacher" kicks in. So the narcissist doesn't pay attention, doesn't learn, bad grades on the tests, and instead of taking responsibility, they see it as a personal slight. Teacher is jealous because they're so smart and is punishing them. Remember the tweet where Rick was smug to his former English teacher - "the difference between them and me is I have 5 books in print". So you get the Dunning-Kruger Effect. Stupid Patrick gets something explained to him like he's a 2nd grader, and suddenly he's the expert who gets to smugly insult college professors from his pedestal.
But it's not just about being right, it's about validation and attention. They frequently choose "yes dear" partners like Niki to agree with them on everything. They want "safe spaces" - praise and upvote me all you want but take your criticism elsewhere. But narcissists also welcome haters, not only is it more attention, but it can be used to gather more validation. Like Blobfish Lady going "The haters said I'm ugly but I think I'm cute" and getting hundreds of people saying yasss queen.
Rick simply is a fat idiot with a shitty personality, who has compartmentalized all his mental illness into getting likes for making sassy pro-establishment tweets.
