Therapy addicted millenials/Gen X. Taught that their emotions are extremely important, valid and worth extended conversations about with a stranger. At some point they realize they can get the same validation they recieve in useless therapy sessions from lots of folks all saying similar "Oh wow I'm so sorry." shit as a therapist would, on social media.

Many of these people raised through school with therapists and social workers encouraging useless talk therapy have no shame or ability to recognize how fruitless and damaging it is to act like this. Perpetual children being told to engage in their emotional state instead of overcome it.

Yeah she’s a mess to begin with and having social media just makes it worse. I had to mute her on FB because she would always be oversharing. Somehow one of her posts came on my feed (probably because it had a lot of reactions / comments) and it was all vague “my world came crashing down” type talk with all the usually “are you ok?” And “thinking of you” “sending hugs” comments / heart reactions. First I checked to make sure nobody died in my family then my dad told me she will probably be coming to thanksgiving and to not mention why her husband isn’t there. Now she’s posting those tacky quotes everyday you see women post with “this hits hard” to get the usually likes / sympathy comments. Not looking forward to thanksgiving since we will be having a large elephant in the room.
