Does the Sirius Legal Team believe that Erock is the rightful owner of the archived shows?

This whole saga is confusing to me because I don't see how the archived shows are Erock's to lord over Opie. Everyone knows when you work for a company they own the materials you work on. Obviously a JP Morgan employee working on a project doesn't get to take the materials with him if he goes to work for Bank of America.

Once Erock left the company and become employed by the ghoul, it would seem those archives were no longer his.

What am I missing here?

This whole saga is confusing to me because I cannot fathom why anyone involved cares.

A lot of the shit's been up on archive.org for ages

They’re not the highest quality possible, dude.

I’m pretty sure Opie has said he has the rights which was apart of his contracts when Anthony and him first started or something. Opie probably doesn’t want to be a dick and take legal action with fat erock, and the fat, worthless, ungrateful piece of shit gets to feel like a special boy for once. It’s especially ridiculous considering it’s the only reason he had a job pretty much and Opie protected him for years. It’s the least he could faaawkin do.

@BenDovid Can you explain how Opie is a piece of shit besides he hurt your guys’ fee fee’s and you didn’t find him funny on the air? To be fair to you though, that’s way worse than being a backstabbing ghoul, racist, pedophile/homosexual. So I get it.

There are a few scenarios. O&A's production company could have owned some of the content, but it was on a conditional basis predicating on O&A having an active partnership where they vote on decisions. But we don't know the reality of those contracts with radio stations that are now defunct and assets likely not even physically owned by the companies, We know Opie and Erock stole a bunch of DAT tapes. And there were multiple different contracts... WAAF, WNEW, XM, SiriusXM.

- Some subsidiary of CBS may own the rights to the WNEW 1998-2002 tapes.
- Additionally, an entirely different CBS subsidiary would own the 1995-1998 tapes, as CBS acquired WAAF the month of O&A's WNEW debut
- Cox Media likely owns (but very unlikely to actually possess) any tapes of Opie or O&A from 1994-1995 on WBAB.

It is assumed anything Opie (or by proxy Erock) didn't save was likely thrown out whenever buyouts and firings happened.

The obscurity and lack of interest on CBS's part has led most to believe O&A own their content, or that it's treated like public domain. There are people on youtube and spotify making money off this content. That's how little CBS actually cares.

You can also assume SiriusXM owns audio from 2004-2014.

However, all of this could be null and void if O&A had contracts that stated they retained ownership of their content, which especially when they were younger and at that time, is highly unusual and unlikely. But anything is possible with O&A...

Have you considered Opie is lying? They weren’t even allowed to play their old wnew bits on xm for while. Opie didn’t own them. And he’s saying Sirius XM allowed Opie to own the content, but won’t allow Howard Stern to do the same?

The simple explanation is Opie doesn’t own them, Erock doesn’t own them, and no one else gives a shit. Why would Sirius care who has them? They didn’t make much of an effort to protect their content when it was being broadcasted and actively making money, not sure why they’d care now.

You act like I am deep into it. Sure, Opie could be lying too. Happy? Regardless, Erock is a fat faggot, and being a faggot child about it.

Nobody cares about an "O&A Archive". Nobody is trying to buy the rights to air it someplace else so nobody cares. The instant money is involved you'll have no doubt as to who owns it. If Erik started an O&A streaming service, SiriusXM would be up his ass instantly. Burning the show on a CD and brining it home doesn't mean you own shit. Opie is upset that he put all his eggs in the Erik basket and never thought to do anything for himself. He was so egotistical and self-important he had to have "people" do everything for him.

@BenDovid Can you explain how Opie is a piece of shit besides he hurt your guys’ fee fee’s and you didn’t find him funny on the air?
Why are people still running with this Opie a comedy chad bit. Opie had a huge ego and thought he was the funniest and smartest guy in the room at all times. If you had a differing opinion you "didn't get it" because he's been "doing radio since he's 18" and you should probably "think about whether or not you belong here". Anyone who thinks Opie is some kind of radio genius never worked a single day with him. "Kenny I need my oatmeal, I'm gonna pass out!". Fucking pussy. Opie kills bits. Opie does your joke but worse 30 seconds later. Opie looks around the room for eye contact when he makes a "joke" and if you're not laughing, you're gonna hear about it in some passive aggressive way during the break. "You feeling OK today?" I'm fine asshole, you're just not funny. This whole Opie bit lame. As somebody who worked with him every day for almost 10 years, you're NEVER going to gaslight me into thinking Opie was a great guy, funny, empathetic, witty, charming, etc. He was a huge cunt and nobody liked him. Kenny was paid to like him. Sam was ass kissing his way up the ladder. Erik was star-struck by his hero. Go send him some $20 superchats since you love the fucking guy so much.

I would be shocked if Sirius actually still had most of it in their archives.

It just sits on a giant network. Did you think it was banker boxes full of typed out 5 hour scripts? It's a fucking folder on a network drive.

O&A's production company

I love when DMAN pretends he knows things. If you have nothing to add you don't have to post. I just read your whole hypothesis, and you added nothing and spit out basic common sense.

Ownership and rights only matters if somebody else cares. At this juncture, nobody cares. Does Sirius issue copyright claims on YouTube? No. Infinity Broadcasting doesn't exist anymore so who is sending a C&D? The show is important to YOU guys but that's about it. Bob Eatman is dead, he's been dead for years. Nobody is looking out for the business of Opie & Anthony, LLC any longer.

It would be like a message board having huge discussions over who owns the rights to the Chris Elliot show Get A Life. At the end of the day, nobody really gives a fuck since they're worthless. See what I mean? If I wanted to hold a screening of Get A Life I don't think I'm gonna get hit with a C&D from Fox. Whatever value O&A audio holds is not enough for literally anybody to give a shit about. If there was real money there, Sirius would rebroadcast it. Or Opie would try to acquire the rights legally. Or Anthony. But none of them do, because it's worthless.

And CBS Radio ended up merging with Entercom which eventually became Audacy, so there’s a few more layers.

Danny, you fucking idiot, nobody said it was sitting around in a dusty back room like a bunch of cans of 35mm film.

You haven’t worked there for over a decade, and Erock has been gone for multiple years.

You really think there’s a neat and easy-to-find folder full of meticulously cataloged shows and audio clips?

That must have been a tremendous amount of storage space that immediately lost its justification for existing the moment that Opie stuck a camera under the men’s room stall.

Nobody said there weren’t still bits and pieces left somewhere, but Erock was famous for his poor organization and now I’m supposed to believe that it’s all saved somewhere like Brando’s hologram in the Superman movies?

In conclusion:

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaay
