Anthony just wanted to be famous and paid as well as he was on Sirius (same with Norton) He tried it with the whole "right wing grifter" era and it failed when people realized he was immoral and not some free speech martyr. Now he has nothing to fall back on because the comedians don't want him around. And he has no other Hollywood connections. Plus his network is small compared to what he dreamed it would amount to when he started it. His peak of Compound was basically him using up his goodwill built up from the O&A fandom which has no depleted into nothing.Again other commenters have said it but Anthony wanted to have his cake and eat it too. He wanted to pal around with the liberal hollywood comedian cabal. But he also wanted to be a Fox News center right “don’t say it out loud” political pundit while also being an outspoken Nazi level racist and jew hater.
We know that he and Jim had secret meetings where they discussed doing their own show. Probably as early as 2006 or 2007. By the time 2012 came around they were still too afraid to pull the trigger and talk to Opie in person about their plans. And so they resorted to texting each other about Opie behind his back like two schoolgirl faggots. Trying to destroy the show instead of confronting Opie like men. "The cunt won't look at me". Anthony and Jim absolutely felt that they were better off without Opie. Which is of course delusional seeing where they are now without Opie to guide their careers. Some would say this is because Cumia was arrogant enough to think he was the real star of the show, or wanted Opie out.
And if people were on the fence last week they are probably done with Anthony. I would bet that Burr talked to a lot of comedians in the last day or two and basically said "if you work with Anthony you are done with me forever". Probably in the next few weeks Anthony will call the comics one by one and get a rejection message and it will drive him to seethe and rage.We already here. You can’t name a single person he’s good with from those days besides Jimmy, let alone burned a bridge.
Norton worked in a box factory but was mostly living off of his parents until he began touring with Dice. Opie worked a bunch of normal radio and television jobs before coming to WBAB where he finally became a shock jock. He had tons of knowledge about radio and television and the politics of the bigger networks. Opie was in radio and tv for over a decade before even meeting Anthony. So he knew the radio business extremely well. Opie is basically the Dennis Falcone of his generation. The two of them together probably know more about radio then the next twenty people.Literally the only reason this shit got brought up was because Anthony was enough of a nigger to actually work a real job unlike Jimmy or Opie to where he had inane knowledge about retarded shit like how to fix a compressor pump on an air conditioner.
That Cellar Table probably hasn’t been funny since Patrice, Louie and Artie were holding court, and the B and C listers like Burr, Worm and Keith were there to lick their assholes clean.Since everyone's giving their opinion, I'll say this... THEY'RE ALL A BUNCH OF ASSHOLES!
That whole Cellar crowd are a bunch of faggots who think the mindless shit they throw out at any given moment is HALIROUS, but it's not, that includes Burr. Their constant "roasting shtick" is beyond played out at this point. Anthony's just an old drunk who let all the attention from his hardcore fans go to his head, and Kenny is...well he's an ex-cop, so that explains everything...
Deep down inside both Anthony and Jim know that their entire careers and lives are owed to Opie. And that they are always the 'and'. Opie 'and Anthony'. Not just 'Anthony'. Same with Jim. That without Opie building their careers they would have been nobodies.
Opie is like the coach who completely sucked at sports as a kid yet somehow leads his team to the World Series every year.Opie might have been the catalyst- but by himself he was worthless
Most great coaches were terrible players. Great players rarely work out as coaches or front office personnel even. They expect everyone to be as good as them and they fail to recognize individual skills that can be exploited. That’s why both teams Michael Jordan has been management for, the Wizards and Hornets, have sucked even with him calling the shots.Opie is like the coach who completely sucked at sports as a kid yet somehow leads his team to the World Series every year.
Just as Kenny pushed him out the door he heard from the table” nice two shirts stupid”. He simply had no riposte. The cellar table had done it again.
Someone needs to rip the full episode. It sounds wonderfully tragicCumia brings up Reddit making fun of his mother's death like 50 minutes in the episode. Honestly, it's not even funny in the sense like "Haha, oh we got him", it's just depressing. He's drunkenly just blurting out these soliloquies to Geno, his only friend at this point, about how he's "loyal" to him and how he's "endeared" himself to him. I'll be honest - even in his sycophantic and talentless ways, Geno doesn't strike me as a bad guy. He just comes off as a stupid loudmouth, trying to prevent this old has-been from jumping off a skyscraper (As well as keeping his job alive at all costs). Geno even brings up the Sue Lightning debacle a bit later on, and Ant just laughs this exaggerated laugh in response that sounds unnatural and unsettling. I'd WebM the clips, but I don't have the energy or inclination to go through all that effort. It's an incredibly depressing episode.
I'm like one hour into the full compound show and Ant is already knocking back shots of Jameson.
Geno is an enabler. He’s always pushing Nana to do shots even though Nana is typically a beer drinker. He’s petrified of Nana moving down to SC because he knows it will only be a matter of time before the NYC studio is mothballed and he ends up living back in his car.Cumia brings up Reddit making fun of his mother's death like 50 minutes in the episode. Technology is my thing duuuude!Back in the day, on those HVAC job sites, Perfesser Anthony was considered the "smart one", as he was probably the only guy there who could read on any kind of meaningful level. But when he was around other people of more or less normal intelligence, he was always quickly exposed as a dolt. Remember when Bennington asked him to name one interest, hobby or pursuit beyond hating liberals, and all Nana could muster in response was "technology"? The great scholar, the intellectually curious powerhouse, the self-educated expert, and he doesn't have a single interest beyond rage tweeting, playing video games and drinking.
Opie is the Andy Reid of radio.Opie is like the coach who completely sucked at sports as a kid yet somehow leads his team to the World Series every year.
Malcolm LaVergne is the most Gigachad lawyer there is. I’d hire that mahfucka in a minute.
That show rules so TYFYS. I used to fall asleep to it all the time. You can thank my tax dollars for that, Nana...(show is partially funded by the govt of Canada)
"Keith Robinson sitting there, didn't say a thing"
what was he supposed to say, Ant? "Go home, you're embarrassing yourself."?
