My ex couldn’t sell her parents house she inherited for this very reason, the roots had got under the foundations and it wasn’t legally possible to sell. I don’t know how it got resolved and I don’t particularly care. I think you need an expensive tree surgeon to remove it all, but that house is 400 years old and the giant tree is right next to it so I very much doubt that’s possible.
