Wanna know why school shootings happen? As someone who had deal with this shit in elementary-college with lockdowns?
Cause mental health resources in this country suck and people with issues can get access to guns easily in certain states compared to others. My HS we had some guy bring a pistol in to school, and load that fucker up, in the middle of hall away until the school cop tackled him. Guy had a full hit list.
He was a fucking asshole himself, bullied others/was an odd ball.
I remember people saying hey the odd kid is stabbing his desk with a pencil, or just sitting and staring in gym (never got dressed for gym) at others. School didn’t give a shit, until something almost happened

Regarding Nana not showing off her guns anymore, I’m sure she had to sell some before she knew she was going to have to move to SC. After that, she moved and found out that the south isn’t the fucking Dukes of Hazzard anymore and he can’t just go shooting in his half acre backyard, and because he has the emotional skills of a three year old, he stopped caring about them.

First, bring back the assault weapons ban. Then, after a mental health evaluation and background check, you are going to take "Shooter's Ed", which YOU will pay for. This will be 20 hours of combination book study and range time. You will have to pass both finals to qualify for your purchase. You don't buy a car AND THEN get a driver's license. You must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of the firearm and practice proper gun safety throughout. Bad trigger discipline? You fail. Not keeping the firearm pointed downrange? Fail. Failure prevents you from re-application for one year, where you must begin the purchase application from scratch.

Firearm owners who pass the requirements for their purchase with children under the age of 18 in the home must keep the firearm stored securely at all times via lock, safe or both. Ammo MUST be kept in a separately locked compartment. By allowing you to own a firearm with minor children, the state will conduct random in-person door knocks to inspect the security of your firearms. In the event your firearm(s) are strewn about, unlocked and or loaded, they are confiscated and your right to purchase is revoked indefinitely.
