I'm going to get trashed over this, I know it, but Fuck it, it's a good comparison...

I've admitted that I like Star Trek - only Original Series, it was on growing up. All that came after lost me completely.

During November of 97, a cameraman for this Paris promotion we were doing told me of this huge used bookstore in town, and I happened to get some time to hit it up. Figured something to read on the tour bus wouldn't be a bad idea.

I Happened to come across a novelization of Star Trek: The Motion Picture, written by none other than Roddenberry himself. Having been familiar with the "Motionless Picture", I figured it couldn't hurt to give it a read. Maybe it was better than the movie.

So, yes, it was better than the film. What I saw in my head had improved pacing and more clarification, but one minor thing... There were moments of sex added. And they were... Weird. Like, why was this even here? It could be a throwaway line, a gay joke (dead serious), or a random off camera sexcapade that did NOT include Kirk, surprisingly.

RickSeans poor attempt at literacy, and The Great Bird's sprinklings of disturbing sexuality prove one thing to me: science fiction writers are all fucking perverts and can't get laid.

I don’t even have a joke to make at this poor dunce’s expense. This just isn’t the way adults talk and think about sex.
