There's a difference between something made for kids, and something that kids watched because it was the only real big option around, and I think Spaceballs falls firmly in that second category. A whole generation of Erocks grew up watching this drivel and convinced themselves it was the funniest shit ever.
Young Frankenstein even falls apart midway. I always liked it and I've seen it a bunch but I think I've only ever made it all way through one time.
