If Opie had walked from Sirius that day it would have been legendary. Retire on top. Tell Anthony he will do a few shows from the Compound to support the venture once it gets on the air. And then just occasionally show up for big fan evens or live shows. It would have been perfect for the O&A brand because for once they could fire their bosses instead of themselves. Opie literally did nothing for his show legacy from the day Anthony was fired until today that was positive. It literally took Anthony and Jim practically becoming open pedophile for people to even tolerate Opie.
Instead they all did the worst possible things. Opie remains on air and destroys his legacy by putting out horrendous radio. Then is fired to become a highly ignored podcaster. Is literaly nonexistant in the media now. FH Reily's sees its last cockroach and closes. Norton remains at Sirius and provides zero value to the brand whatever. Signs with Sam and continually tries to leech off of the O&A remnant. Including ripping off truckers for cartoon money. Takes prep to avoid HIV from the Viking King. And Anthony becomes a basement dwelling pedophile degenerate. Beats his girlfriend and loses his guns. Forced into rehab. Gets sodomized by Sue Lightning. Book signings with zero fans.
At this point by being a loser with no clout, Opie has almost escaped unscathed compared to Anthony and Norton. He still has a family and some money. Anthony and Norton are still chasing fame and internet notoriety. And are literal faggots. Feed Nana.

It’s a myth that Opie couldn’t do good radio without Nana or Worm. I tapped out in 2012 so let’s not pretend the three of them together wasn’t complete shit already. If anything Ant’s leaving brought new life to the show which could’ve translated into better radio and brought in new listeners (and back the old listeners) if not for Jim faggot Norton sabotaging the show from the beginning with his double-dealing and overall laziness/self-absorption.
I think it was the fourth-rate comics he was stuck with after Worm left that really hurt Opie’s legacy more than anything, but over time his importance to the dynamic of the show when it was at its best has become more apparent. Put him in the studio with one or two decent comics (Attell, Vos, etc) and any dumb guest (athlete or actor or whomever) and you’ll have a good radio show. Sub in Nana or Worm in Opie’s place and I guarantee you the show gets worse. They are not set-up guys who make the funny people in the room shine, but rather inferior comics who have some “clever” riffs but don’t move the show forward in any way. Nana and Worm for the most part did not care about the listeners or even making good radio, which set them apart from Opie in terms of aptitude for the work. It’s the reason both “Jim & Sam” and TACS were doomed to fail and exposed them for what they really are. Out of the three of them, Opie is the only one I can see making a comeback. Crazy maybe but not impossible like it is for the Nanaworm.
