If he wasn't such an asshole then I'd be open to the discussion; I've heard voicing software which is almost as good as me now & it's bothered me, but if Rick's on that side of the debate then I should probably be more positive like I used to be, & use every tool available to make the best thing possible.

Patrick literally describes his books as "x in space". The full extent of his artistry is glancing over a handful of preexisting properties, thinking he can do better, and then markov chaining his way through whatever dumb related phrases come to mind until he hits his word count.
The fucking gall of an uneducated genre fiction author to be talking about artistry.
He has no idea how many of his favorite properties were made using some form of AI somewhere along the way.
If Patrick wasn't a fat luddite he could have been using AI as a tool to double his output, legitimately improve the quality of his writing and catch all the shit his dyslexic editor missed.
In a different time he would have been the kind of fat retard that thought using spellcheck was an insult to his intelligence.

I think the practical joke that developed after all the ribbing he’s gotten from rascals like you is that now he approaches every interaction he has as if it is a rascal who is trying to rib him some more. Pat is only angry about this because mediocre hobbyists like him managed shoehorn themselves into creative fields (namely SFWA membership) and now thanks to AI that distinction is meaningless. They are just mad because now with AI, if it doesn't mean anything to be 'professional' they don't get to lord it over others. Classic dorks valuing titles over actual achievements.

This is just the new jump and if people are gonna throw up their arms and say that's cheating they deserve to be left behind for not adapting.
Just because AI can pump out text and images quickly doesn't make it good, the person who is utilizing the tool makes it good.
You can pump out as many anime titty girls as you want and no one will call that good art, but in a year or two when someone actually makes something of artistic value people's tune about AI will change.
