Lisa Krinsky was the head of a pharmaceutical company who served Yahoo with a subpoena for the identity of 10 John Does who posted naughty words about her on a message board. John Doe #6 quashed the subpoena which was upheld by the appeals court because it was constitutionally protected speech.

No self-respecting Englishman would put milk in Earl Grey. In an English Breakfast or Afternoon all-purpose tea like PG Tips, Twining's or Yorkshire? Certainly. But only an oik would put milk in an Earl Grey. It's a light and delicate tea to begin with. Why weaken it further? It's not a robust brew like English Breakfast. Just another thing that clueless fat rube does while attempting to appear worldly and backfiring badly. Fat.

More specifically, the subpoena was quashed and a legal precedent was set that negative opinions about public figures fall under first amendment right to free speech, even when done anonymously over the internet. Anything from "your book stinks" to "you're a fat daughter abandoner" falls under the protected category of opinion.
The reason this case still continues is because Rodney lied in court, simple as that. El Tigre had him on the ropes, Stein was looking unimpressed, so attorney Rodney Mayr lied and said Quasi had made a post bragging about purposely leaving anti-Semitic reviews. That post (if it existed) would satisfy Krinsky, so Stein basically told Rodney to go find that post. Rodney was unable to find a nonexistent post, and instead tried to make a vague, nonspecific argument, Patrick's the victim, we need Quasi to uncover the other 59 Does, etc. The court shot back, enough of the vagueness, we need specific examples of Quasi defaming Patrick to satisfy Krinsky.
It's like if I went "Patrick Tomlinson kidnapped and raped Madeline McCann and I have a videotape of him doing it". You'd need to see the videotape to confirm my accusation, but then the reality is no such videotape exists. That's where Patrick's case is at legally right now. Well I can't show you the tape but please arrest him for kidnapping and child rape anyway. Just take my word for it as I don't lie about anything ever.
