Did Otto EVER say anything funny that weren't pity laughs so he wouldn't go kill himself during break?
Big George fan btw.

He had the same act for his entire career. He was referencing "Sizzlean" for decades after they stopped advertising it.One time, YouTube recommended me a bunch of Otto clips from standup appearances, some time he did on the Morton Downey Jr Show, news interviews, even a gig he did in front of school kids ("oh, uncle paul..."), and much of the material was the same even though the videos were from over nearly two decades. So yeah Otto was funny but not exactly prolific in his material .

The only funny thing about Otto was Jim referencing stories of him being a weirdo autistic. When they tried to pick up some girls, and one said her grandfather had committed suicide, and when Otto saw a picture of them on her fridge, he asked "Is this the one that tossed himself out the window?"
And bob kelly is a shitty nortonNorton is a shitty Otto
Otto ruled but I do think he closed with a JFK joke for his entire career. I’m assuming most of his act was George insulting the audience.I get douche chills if I think too hard about a comic reciting a seemingly impromptu punchline and trying their best to make it sound organic for the thousandth time.

He had some mental illness. When he was talking to people his puppet would read the newspaper quietly. He had the same act for his entire career. He was referencing "Sizzlean" for decades after they stopped advertising it.

Come on, that was clearly a bit. He even admitted it on the air. He said he just wanted people to question if he was really crazy. He had some mental illness. When he was talking to people his puppet would read the newspaper quietly.
Or was it? I guess he got me then.Come on, that was clearly a bit. He even admitted it on the air. He said he just wanted people to question if he was really crazy.

He also had a pretty serious drug problem for most of his life. Artie had a story about opening for him and having to go find him in a crack house. No doubt, I'm definitely not accusing Otto of hack level repetition, only that he's best in bite-size pieces.

I fell for this once in my early 20s.. I was a fag who liked Patton Oswalt at the time and on his album Werewolves and Lollipops, he has an extended bit where he talks about the town the show is in (the only specific quote I remember is “streets paved with weed”), and to me it was totally off the cuff. Then I watched the included DVD which was filmed in a completely different town and he did the same exact routine word-for-word about that town. Life is bullshit, maaaaaaan.I get douche chills if I think too hard about a comic reciting a seemingly impromptu punchline and trying their best to make it sound organic for the thousandth time.
