Nah…of course you don’t. That was all handled by the talent bookers and Opie got the final say. They were asking Opie if he wanted guests. They were telling you they were booked. “Huh? Ok SURE HAHAHA HOLEEE SHIT HOW FAST CAN I GET OUT OF HERE?”
But what i’m talking about specifically was when it was HIS show, with the MANAGEMENT and BOSSES. When Nana had actual competent adults around him to handle the business. Not just Opie but everyone at SXM we never saw or who cackled in the background, producing the show and getting the guests. People hired by a public company and being paid a salary. Opie and Anthony would regularly look at these guest lists, sometimes with small names, and wonder “Why the fawwk are we having them on?!” but it didn’t matter. When Burr came in studio and outclassed Anthony, oh well. He’ll never be a big name anyway. I uh have a uh uh a show MOTHERFUCKER! When Joe Rogan came in and out MANNED Anthony, despite being the little elf he is? Doesn’t matter, he’s just the fear factor guy!
And then…whuh happened? Nana was fired. No longer do the comics have to walk on egg-you-open-up-and-stick-your-dick-into-shells. What offers can Cumia provide them? Going on his show is a net negative now. Anyone with a backbone or a career to lose flew away. Those little guys on the show? Bill Burr is in Disney movies. Joe Rogan is the biggest podcast ever. What happens when Nana tries to reach out to them in his time of need? Rogan has him on for a pity episode to promote his book, hasn’t had him on since. Doesn’t like the guy personally, wants nothing to do with him, and is only a show of loyalty for inspiring him to start that career. Burr told him to fuck off because he’s a racist piece of shit. And he didn’t back down like shoulderless Derosa when Nana pulled all his classic moves like sending the fans after him or harassing him IRL.
Would Rogan, who supposedly respects Nana so much, ever lend his name to a “friend” and appear even ONCE on his local access talk show? Of course not. Would Jimmy, who is supposedly great friends with him, do even a once a month podcast with Anthony? Of course not. Anthonys reality now, now that he doesn’t have adults to take care of him, is looking at guest lists of Z listers that were last updated 3 years ago.
Rememba how Anthony used to criticize how Opie could never do a show alone? What he never understood was the Opster didn’t WANT to do a show alone.
