I did HVAC for 2 years because the guy I worked for ran out of work for me. I enjoyed it and made decent money. The only thing that wasn't great was being in attics in the summertime where it gets incredibly hot.

I'm cheap as fuck, but my wife managed to convince me to hire some movers the last time we bought a house.

If you ever need a reminder that you're old and decrepit, try keeping up with a team of professional movers. All of them were Russian and extremely out-of-shape. All of them smelled like they'd taken a bath in vodka. And they moved shit 4X faster than I could *and* they were somehow able to lift things like they were Zangief.

The most ridiculous part was that they took smoke breaks about every fifteen minutes but still got more done in six hours than I could do in six days.

You work your way up. Laborers becomes leads, become foreman, become PMs and if you have a brain in your head, start your own business because you've built a career of professional contacts.

When I worked as a civil engineer in construction, you could tell right who were the deadbeats in the labor pool. (Usually their inability to show up to work on time and/or sober).
