He’s got one possible solution, and it’s still a Hail Mary,
Accept responsibility and take account of what he did. Apologise profusely, and ask for a second and last chance, not because of who he is or where he’s from, but because of his own work solely attributed to him. If he was smart he would incorporate all of this into a story or a biography, the rise and fall of the trodden on Nigerian dreamer etc.
He’s almost certainly going to just keep finding convoluted ways to garner sympathy and hand outs instead.
