I think he's trying to do a Hans Gruber voice - kind of an arch British mastermind - but it just comes off as the gayest Disney villain ever. Something producers would choose because it hits all the right notes - camp enough to make the parents laugh, and not threatening enough to actually scare the kids.

Charles Nelson Rarely-Exercises, if you will.

That's the line that really stuck in my mind. I've been trying to figure out what it reminds me of and the closest thing I can think of is Dr Evil.

It's so fucking weird. The high pitched sing songy voice is deranged.
He thinks it's ominous and intimidating but it's honestly more entertaining than anything we could've hoped for. Hearing him play out his gay Twitter persona while he's got steam coming out of his ears like a fucking muppet is truly rib aching stuff.

I know you just used a random example, but Rickman's Gruber works so well because, minor whimsy aside, he's played straight.

Patrick's idea of threatening someone is channeling Frank Gorshin with a scoop of Paul Lynde and a dash of Liberace.

I love how floored St. Josiah was when actually hearing it for the first time. What?! First hearing that call was such a whirlwind of enormous faggotry all I could do was just sit there with my mouth as open as Pat at a Mandingo party.

Second viewing once the histrionics wear off is much more compelling in how you can appreciate his owned faggotry so much more.

tl;dr Pat’s fat
